New MHA Materials are here!

New MHA Materials_BLOG

During MHA Summer Institute this past summer, we had large collaborative working sessions with Hidatsa speakers to correct the Level 1 Hidatsa Textbook.

20069785548_49cb94b714_zWe’re happy to announce that the Hiráaca Íire – Speak Hidatsa! Level 1 textbook and audio CD have been updated! Get your FREE copy by placing an order at our bookstore; Level 1 audio is available as a CD or as a download through CD Baby.

Hidatsa Level 2 CoverAnd if you’re ready to take your Hidatsa to the next level, there is now the Hiráaca Íire – Speak Hidatsa! Level 2 textbook. The textbook is nearly double in size of the Level 1 book, featuring dozens of new activities, exercises, and many fun integrated audio recordings that will improve your Hidatsa like never before! The textbook is now available for FREE at our bookstore, with the audio available on CD or as a download, starting this upcoming Monday on CD Baby.

Final Hidatsa Vocab Builder-01Supplementary to the Hidatsa Level 1 and Level 2 textbooks, we recommend using the Hidatsa Vocab Builder —  now available for Android and iOS!  This FREE app allows you to quiz yourself on vocabulary for a variety of categories.  For more information and installation instructions for Android see our previous post.

Final Arikara Vocab Builder-01

Finally, we’re thrilled about the new Arikara Vocab Builder, now available for Android at the Google Play Store and for iOS at the Apple Store.  Like the Hidatsa Vocab Builder, the Arikara Vocab Builder is FREE and includes 10-20 vocabulary words per category, where you can play and progress through levels to unlock new words.

We are honored to be able to produce these materials with the MHA Education Department at NHSC and we hope that these resources will inspire and stimulate new learners. In the next month, we will release:

  • Mandan Vocab Builder  (iOS and Android)
  • Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Layout and Fonts Bundles, v.2 (for PC & Mac)

Keep your eye out for these new developments, and don’t forget to pick up your FREE copies of these materials at the MHA Education Department (Northern Lights Building) at NHSC.

Please share the news about these new resources with your friends, family, and anyone who may be interested in learning MHA languages!
